E-Collar/Recall
Your Dog's Seatbelt
Think of an e-collar the way you think about a seatbelt in your car. You don't wear a seatbelt because you're planning to crash; you wear it because if something does go wrong, you want to be protected. An e-collar works the same way for your dog. It's your "oh sh*t" button: the tool that's there and ready the moment you need it, giving you a reliable way to call your dog back or stop them before a bad situation becomes a dangerous one.
I've been training with e-collars since before I was even a professional trainer, and I'm a huge believer in what they can do for a dog's life. Done right, an e-collar doesn't take away your dog's freedom; it gives them more of it. That kind of freedom only happens when you trust your recall, and that trust comes from training the tool correctly.
Who This Class Is For
This class is built for two kinds of dog owners:
Brand new to e-collars and ready to learn how to introduce and use one the right way, from day one.
Already familiar with e-collar training and looking for a structured space to practice recall and skills around other dogs and real distractions.
Whether you're starting from scratch or levelling up, you'll be working alongside other dogs and handlers in a controlled setting, which is exactly the kind of practice that's hard to replicate on your own at home.
What We'll Cover
Week 1 — Info Session & Foundations: We'll kick things off like an info session: e-collar parts and function, how to find your dog's working level, and how to properly pair the collar so your dog understands what it means.
Week 2 — Adding Distractions: Once the foundation is solid, we start layering in real-world distractions to build reliability.
Week 3 — Troubleshooting & Corrections: We'll dig into troubleshooting common issues, how and when to use corrections properly, and continue building on distraction work.
Week 4 — Skills in Action / Advanced Practice: Applying the e-collar to everyday obedience: place/bed, sit/down, and leash walking (For the dogs that are ready for it).
Weeks 5 & 6 — Practice, Practice, Practice: More reps, more real-world scenarios, more dogs and distractions — this is where the training really solidifies.
