Service Dog Training

Service dogs have been part of my life since the very beginning of my dog training journey. I first got into service dogs when both my husband and I were in need of one. At the time, I was new to dog training and had no idea where to start, so I decided to train my own dog. Over time, I connected with incredible trainers who helped guide me, support me, and shape the foundation of who I am as a trainer today.

Training my own service dog showed me firsthand just how life-changing a service dog can be and how challenging and confusing the process can feel when you’re navigating it alone.

This past year, I completed the Service Dog Trainer Development Program at Elite Dog Centre in Edmonton. The program deepened my understanding of public access training, task development, service dog selection, and navigating Canada’s complex (and often confusing) service dog landscape. More importantly, it opened my eyes to the number of handlers who have been misled or taken advantage of in an entirely unregulated industry.

That’s why I’m choosing to show up here; openly, clearly, and with a commitment to supporting service dog teams who deserve guidance, practical solutions, and a trainer who knows the realities of this work.

My Approach

This is for you if:

✓ You want to owner-train your service dog
✓ You want guidance from a trainer who knows the realities of service dog work
✓ You want a dog that is public-safe, task-trained, and meets your specific needs
✓ You want support in building a strong partnership with your dog

This is not for individuals looking to pass off a pet as a service dog or skip steps in the training process.

I am a balanced trainer who uses all tools at my disposal to help teams succeed in real-world situations. When it comes to service dog training, I want to be upfront: I do not claim to be a master service dog trainer, and I probably never will.

Service dog work is complex, and there is always more to learn. My goal is to work alongside you and your dog, helping you reach your training goals while continuing to grow and expand my own skills.

If we encounter a task you want your dog to learn that I haven’t trained before, I will always do my best to support you and your dog. Additionally, I have a strong network of experienced trainers that I can reach out to for guidance, ensuring that you and your dog get the best support possible.

I believe in honesty, collaboration, and adaptability. Together, we’ll find the most effective path for you and your dog to succeed.
